Our website and services are provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis without warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
5. Cost of Borrowing & Key Disclosures
OneCompare does not provide credit and does not charge borrowers a platform, search or referral fee. Loan approval, amount, interest rate, fees and repayment terms are determined solely by the participating licensed lender.
Repayment periods offered by participating lenders range from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 60 months (renovation financing from 12 months; business financing from 6 months).
Maximum APR: 98.2% APR for personal and renovation borrowing, and 48% APR for business financing. Bank personal loans typically range from about 6% to 15% APR and bank renovation loans from about 5% to 10% APR. The 98.2% figure is the statutory worst case where the borrowing is taken with a Singapore-licensed moneylender charging the legal maximum 4% interest per month plus the maximum 10% administrative fee.
Representative example (typical bank personal loan): borrow S$10,000 over 36 months at 4.0% per annum flat (APR approximately 7.7%): 36 monthly repayments of S$311.11; total amount repayable S$11,200. Worst case (licensed moneylender at the statutory maximum): borrow S$10,000 over 12 months at 4% interest per month on a reducing balance with a 10% administrative fee of S$1,000 deducted on disbursement (net advance S$9,000): 12 monthly repayments of S$1,065.52; total amount repayable S$12,786.24; total cost of credit S$2,786.24; APR 98.2%.
- Banks and financial institutions: processing/handling fee typically 0-3% of the approved amount, insurance premium where required, late-payment charge typically S$80-S$120, early-settlement fee where applicable.
- Licensed moneylenders: administrative fee up to 10% of principal (one-off, on approval), late interest up to 4% per month on the overdue amount, late fee up to S$60 per month.
- OneCompare charges borrowers nothing — no platform, search or referral fee.
Rates, fees and eligibility vary by lender and applicant profile. APRs above are calculated on the examples shown and include all compulsory fees. Figures are illustrations only and are not an offer of credit.
